What a fascinating game idea! I will be keeping an eye on you

Hey, your game sounds awesome! I’d recommend doing the following to turn it into a bigger success on Game Jolt!

1. Post about your game, news and updates in as many communities as it makes sense! Communities like Game Dev or Arts n Crafts will get your posts in front of thousands of users! Find more communities here: https://gamejolt.com/communities.

2. Write a bio on your profile. A complete profile always looks more legitimate in the eyes of the community. This is a great place to add in your website or other social channels.

3. Post and update your followers frequently to stay on their radar!

A turn based adventure about a spiritual discovery in a distant  mysterious world

Currently in development by Tulio Tercero AKA NerdyPunkDev

Spaceman Memories is a retro inspired JRPG that takes place in a distant future but takes inspiration from ancient Japanese folktales. Take on the role of Uchū hikō-shi, a JAXA astronaut that wakes up from hyper sleep and is completely unaware of who he is or what is happening around him. Given the circumstances he has no choice but to leave the safety of his base and go into the precariousness of a mysterious barren planet. He will quickly realize that even though he is very far from home, he begins to find traces that take him on a spirited but dangerous journey to connect with his own roots.

  • Turn based and story-driven game with homages to current and ancient Japanese culture.

  • Environment-based insightful puzzles to unravel the mystery of the Spaceman's forgotten memories.

  • Learn about ancestral Japanese spirits. Fight the evil ones and receive help from the benign ones to make your way in a trascendental search.

  • Exploration of an aesthetic pixel art world that takes you through an immersive nostalgic journey.

  • An original soundtrack blending exotic retro synths and sound effects to evoke a feeling of universal nostalgia.

An open journey to find oneself through solo indie game development

Currently the game is in the development phase and its process is being openly shared through cool video devlogs. Spaceman Memories is intended to be both a video game and a documentary project about the spiritual quest to share the highs and lows of solo game development being based on a third world country. The open development of the game will encapsule topics ranging from coding, art creation, music and sfx composing, spiritual struggles, mental health, productivity and digital content creation.

I've been working on implementing a water environment in which the player could walk. The code I am using is very similar to the one I am using for the tall grass. Also the SFX is a recording of water with a 16 bit downshift bitcrusher on Logic Pro X.

Been working on the turn based battle screen. I'm still deciding which info I want to display on the stats box of the entities that are fighting.

A potential publisher said the game's artwork would look better if i zoomed out the camera of the topdown view. I concluded that he was right so now I am using 14 pixels per Unit instead of 16 on the Pixel Perfect Cinemachine Camera on Unity.

I've been working on the design of environments for urban battles. I also decided to use pixelbasher for this as it helps me save time and I keep the same style. Oh, I'm also introducing a new enemy called de Aka Manto which works as an urban enemy.

Im very happy as my game was featured on Gamer and Dengeki magazines from Japan. It's about the launch of my Steam page.

Today I've been working on a creature called Kappa. They are water creatures so these will appear by the riverside of the game. By the way, they are NOT friendly in Japanese folklore haha!

Working on boss battle music. I've been experimenting with lots of synths, I'm always looking for the ones that fit that nostalgic mood.
